HISTORY
The creation of 19th century French lace makers looking for a more compact version of the English Bulldog, the French Bulldog was originally thought of as a toy version of their popular companion predecessor. A dog far braver than their size would imply, this breed became popular originally with the lower class, but gained acceptance into the upper echelon because of their great personality.

Appearance
A tiny, boxy, snub nosed, brick of a dog, the French Bulldog looks like a smaller, less wrinkly version of their English counterpart. They have the trademark Bulldog jowly upper lip, and their lower jaw is squared off. Their tail can either be straight or a curly cue, but what really sets this breed apart are their large, bat like ears that sit erect atop their head.
